Registration information

Region 163
is the local organization that plans and administers a Fall/Spring season of 16 fun-filled games, 2 weeks of Summer Soccer Camp and Coach/Referee development and training. We are an all-volunteer organization, so we encourage you to sign up to invest your time as a volunteer coach, referee or board member when you register!

Registration
AYSO Region 163's registration is done online, through this website. Registration for the Fall/Spring season is held May 1 through July 15. The player(s) is registered by entering all information in the registration section of the website, generating a waiver form which is esigned.

All players registered by July 15 are guaranteed a spot on a team. Players registering after July 15 are placed on teams with space available. If no space is available, they are placed on a waiting list and put on a team if a space becomes available.

Team Formation
During registration, each player is assigned to a division based on birth year.

Once registration is complete, players within a division are assigned to balanced teams using our team formation computer software. We strive to maintain teams which are as evenly balanced as possible to ensure a fun playing experience for all. Factors we use in forming balancing teams include:

  • Age & Grade in school
  • Skill (based on previous season evaluations and previous soccer experience)
  • Geographic location & school
  • Request for siblings to play together
  • Request of a coach and an assistant coach to work together

Where possible in the U-6 and U-8 divisions, mutual special requests will be honored.  Special requests will not be honored in these divisions after the close of standard registration, as teams have been formed and balance must be maintained. Special requests will not be accepted at any point in the U-10, U-12 or U-14 divisions.

While our goal would be that every team complete the season with a record of as many wins as losses, we know that this is not the case. Since we emphasize "Everyone Plays" and "Good Sportsmanship", we encourage coaches and parents to focus on the fun, camaraderie, and positive efforts, rather than the team's record, keeping in mind that "there's always the next game" or "next year"!

Our Season and Schedule
We play a Fall/Spring season of 16 games, generally starting the weekend after Labor Day through the end of October, and beginning again in early April through late May or early June.

Provisions are not made for make-up games cancelled due to bad weather. Coaches may at their discretion schedule a make-up game. In the case of bad or questionable weather, check the website, www.ayso163.org, or Facebook after 11 am on game day.  The website and Facebook will be updated and then emails will be sent to all parents.

Every division will have a weekly assigned trainer practice, organized by our professional trainers.  Team practices may also be scheduled by the individual coaches in the U-8 through U-14 divisions, generally one per week. Players will not be moved to another team in the case of a conflict with scheduled practices, and we expect that players will make every effort to attend scheduled practices. The U-6 division practices are held immediately prior to scheduled games, at the times noted on the schedule.
